First food pass?

We may not have seen our little male make his first flight yesterday but we did see a food pass.  Not in mid-air of course but our feisty little male took the starling from his Dad and then ‘covered’ it in the manner of a peregrine protecting its food.

First I screamed at Dad that I am hungry

Then I went and took the food from him

He flew off with nothing - this is mine!!

Nearly there!

Fledgling  is  now very near on a beautiful  Sunday morning with the festival  of speed on at goodwood the young male peregrine is very close to his first flight. Exercising wings on top of the turret , and very soon will rival the top speed of any of the super cars at goodwood.

Male chick picture

The young male through a scope. He has also been sitting on top of the nest box. Views of the female wing flapping have also been seen from ground level. This is the first time we have seen a chick off a screen (apart from ringing)!

Male juvenile the first to go?

It seems the male was not going to be outdone by his sister and has made the leap to go outside the turret.  Maybe a first flight later?

Ready to fly!

Looks like our girl is nearly ready to fly the nest – she’s been in the castellation and had a look at the big wide world but then thought better of it and hopped back into the safety of the nest.

Food coming soon?

As they grow bigger there is not much to do at the moment in between food so it’s always worth keeping an eye open for it. They are now getting very vocal as well and can clearly be heard from the ground.

Just waiting
