One of the toughest watches of my and Janet’s life. Having intervened once it made it twice as difficult to make the right decision for the whole family . Sometimes webcams and technology make it far more complicated than it would be in a wild situation where the mother knows what to do and just gets on with it. It was obvious to me at an early stage in this story that there was something seriously wrong with this poor gutsy little chick. Now is a time to move on be grateful that it was not AI and hope that the parents can bring the two remaining healthy chicks to a point where they can spread their wings and fledge and keep this amazing Chichester Peregrines dynasty alive. Thanks to all of you for your support it has not been easy….!!!

RIP little boy…..

Yesterday a very difficult decision was made to intervene and put the smallest chick back in the nest . This was done by a professional schedule 1 ringer who has the authority to approach the nest of a schedule 1 bird. It had already been out of the nest the day before and got back in on its own .Today it has left the nest again and unfortunately it is fairly obvious that it is not right . For the moment it is off camera . There will be no intervention this time and nature will follow its course. We will be monitoring the other two carefully.

Growing so fast we won’t know for sure until they are three weeks old but if I was a gambling man I would say two Girls and a boy…!!! Don’t forget our open days on the Cathedral lawns start on Saturday June 7th 10am -4pm there will be great views on the peregrines using Telescopes and electronic technology….do come and visit. Open days are running until the 6th July ….!!!

The problems with the Cathedrals internet and computer system were more serious than we thought but to cut a long story short we’re back .Anyone who is using links to watch will have to copy / paste the new embedded links ….it has taken me a very long time to redo it all and make sure it works …..I seriously hope that does not happen too often . The good news is it’s back ….they are fine just a little bit bigger….ENJOY…..!!!

Three feeds by just past 8am this morning brilliant team work…! Then it was time for Dad to enjoy breakfast after such a busy morning….!

Great work this morning Dad bringing in food 3 times for three breakfast’s by just after 8am …I wish I was that lucky ….breakfast has always been my favourite meal….!!!

Great tender moment from the nest today we have three adorable chicks and we now have to accept that the fourth egg is not viable. It is five years since we had four chicks so to have three is absolutely brilliant. We will probably never know why , let’s celebrate the three healthy ones and enjoy seeing them grow up to hopefully all fledge. They have a lot going for them so enjoy….!!!
