Just Three this year.

A lot of you have been asking about the fourth egg. There is now no chance it will hatch so we have three this year. Often the eggs gets pushed to one side and is cracked, damaged and  the shell gets eaten, I am not sure why this has not happened but this egg will not hatch now. Under all the circumstances of the year they have done very well to have the three safe and sound. Lets look forward to them all fledging.

Whilst checking on the family earlier today, there was some kind of commotion. The chicks were alone, but there was a lot of noise from one of the parents (I assume)
Does anyone know what was happening please?
I was really worried about the chicks as well as the parents. Made me realise how life is always ‘in the balance’ for most wildlife.

Hi there, this is normal. There could of been a close bird, such as a gull or buzzard, or it could be the fact the male might of had some food for the chicks. Its nothing to worry about. As I did not see it I don’t know what exactly happened – but I hope I gave you some light on what you saw.

      Luke
