Fact Of The Day – Sizes Of Peregrines…

Everyday (or as often as we can), for the rest of the season, we will be putting a different fact up about peregrines. Today is the first one and I thought about the size of peregrines. Peregrine Falcons have reverse sexual dimorphism in size; this means that the Female is larger than the male, by up to 30%!  In addition, the Males weigh just 580 – 750 grams, while females weigh 925 grames – 1.3 Kg.

    I see at the moment there is just one egg, how many do they usually lay?

      This pair lay four eggs, though other peregrines lay less. The number of eggs she lays in the first year she breeds is the number she lays for the rest of her life.
