Dad tried very hard late this afternoon to temp her to come down from her very high perch on the spire chasing ,to come down for a snack or even a more intimate moment several times he presented his morsel to her but all to no avail . So both birds present and both birds made tentative visits to the nest box……picture below is his offering to her.
Dad check’s it out……!!
Dad came into the box this morning and checked it all out making some very delicate alarm calls as he surveyed the scene …….he was there about 5 minutes and then left .
The interest is obviously there which is good news…..
Camera is Live!!
The camera is live but no one was at home first thing this morning……and so it begins again spring is in the air…….
I can see you…….
Lots of activity!
Both birds present to roost and sometimes a juvenile as well we have moved from our winter posts high up on the top tracing of the spire and can now often be seen on the various pinnacles…..and so it begins again…..Happy New Year to you all…….
Wonderful sitings at the cathedral today
We only popped in to see if there were any of the peregrines about and what a treat we had. Both Mum and Dad were sitting on the decoration at the top end of the spire, one either side, and neither seemed to be keen on joining in. In the air 2 sparrow-hawks were attacking another adult peregrine who in turn stooped and attacked one of them. Then there were the 2 buzzards that came into our peregrines’ airspace but not close enough to warrant moving from their vantage points. All of this occurring in the space of about 10 minutes. As you will see below the acrobatics in the air were a very long way up so not the best of pictures but Mum and Dad look very healthy sitting in the sun.
All play at 30 degrees C !!
It was all happening at the Cathedral last night superb viewing best of the season they must like the hot weather!
Lots of play!
RSPB here till 10th July
It seems the was a communication problem between the RSPB and the cathedral and they will be on the front lawn of the cathedral until 10th July as originally billed. Unfortunately the RSPB have been having some staffing problems which is why they haven’t been there every day – so if you don’t see them one day come back the next as the birds are still around and at times the flying is spectacular!! We do know that the RSPB will not be at the cathedral on 2/3 July – this is due to staffing problems.
Keep coming the birds are still here and will be for some time yet – just look up to the sky when you hear a lot of noise and you may see something wonderful!!!
